DESCRIPTION: The Prized Black Truffle (Tuber Melanosporum Vitt.) also known as the prized black truffle of Norcia or Spoleto is the variety of truffle that stands out from the others with its pronounced sweetish taste. In addition to being used in savory preparations, it can find space for sweet creations. The shape is globose, sometimes lobed, with a brown-black peridium with depressed warts at the apex. The gleba is brown or reddish-black in colour, crossed by light and thin, very branched veins.
HARVEST: In Umbria the harvest period for the prized black truffle is from November 15th to April 15th.
PACKAGING AND SHIPPING: We ship the fresh truffle in refrigerated polystyrene cartons to guarantee the best refrigerated conservation of the product during transport. (Free recipe book)
STORAGE: Fresh truffles should be stored in the refrigerator at 0°/+4°C, wrapped one by one in absorbent paper and placed in a plastic or glass container, for up to a maximum of 5 days.
CONSUMPTION METHOD: Fresh truffles can be consumed in various ways. It can be sliced directly onto your favorite dishes, or grated and mixed with extra virgin olive oil to prepare a sauce to season your creations.
OBSERVATIONS : Fresh truffles are sold already washed, however, we recommend washing and/or brushing them carefully before use. The presence of white spots on the peel is completely normal and is easily removable by washing.
Size: from approximately 10g to 20g. Truffles can be whole and/or split, this absolutely does not preclude the quality of the product, but rather shows the degree of ripeness of the truffle.
The origin of the truffle can vary based on availability, from Umbria to other regions of Italy.
