DESCRIPTION: The fresh Summer Truffle (tuber aestivum vitt.), also known as Scorzone Truffle, is one of the many edible truffle varieties. Its appearance is very distinctive as it has a thick and irregular rind (also called peridium). The rind color ranges from very dark brown to deep black. Inside, it has a gleba whose color varies from white to ochre and hazelnut depending on the level of ripeness and the region of origin.
HARVEST: In Umbria, the Summer Truffle harvest period is from May 1st to August 31st.
PACKAGING AND SHIPPING: We ship the fresh summer truffle in refrigerated polystyrene boxes to ensure the best preservation of the product during transport. (Recipe booklet included)
STORAGE: Fresh truffle should be stored in the refrigerator at 0°/+4°C, each wrapped individually in absorbent paper and placed in a plastic or glass container, for up to 5 days.
HOW TO CONSUME: Fresh truffle can be enjoyed in various ways. It can be sliced directly onto your favorite dishes or grated to prepare a sauce to season your creations.
NOTES: Fresh truffle is sold already cleaned; however, we recommend washing and/or brushing it carefully before use. The presence of white spots on the skin is completely normal and can be easily removed by washing. Each piece is carefully selected by our expert staff.
SIZE: Truffles can be whole and/or split, which does not affect the quality of the product but rather indicates the degree of ripeness of the truffle. Size of the product in question: from 10g - 30g
